About Timyra-Joi Beatty

Ten year-old Timyra-Joi has a motto. "Always believe in yourself and follow your dreams". It was this motto she brought to the songwriting sessions with Ken and Becky Rash of Active Audio & Entertainment that inspired the powerful, uplifting and soulful song "What Kind of World". Using this song as a vehicle, Timyra-Joi is fulfilling her dream of spreading a message of hope and love to the world.

Timyra-Joi was 5 when her parents recognized her talent, although she had been singing since she was a baby. Her influences include Christina Aguilera, Yolanda Adams and Patti LaBelle. Timra-Joi's parents sought out opportunities for her to develop and share her talent. They brought her to Leigh Scarritt Productions and distinguished dance troupe Culture Shock where she strengthened her vocal technique, dance, acting and performance skills.

Since then she's had roles in movies and TV commercials, including a voice over role in Universal Pictures "Curious George". She has acted in local theatre, most notably as Dorothy in "The Wiz" at the Lyceum Theater and as Cindy-Lou Who in "The Grinch" at the Old Globe Theatre, both in San Diego. She has danced in many locations in San Diego, including Sea World.

She performed the National Anthem at a Padres Game, National School Board Association event, at Angels Stadium, and a San Diego Police Officers Association event to name a few. In 2008, Timyra-Joi was featured as one of Americas Most Talented Kids on the Maury Povich Show.

Her most cherished vocal performance was singing at the Tariq Khamisa Foundation for the presentation of the Ghandi Peace Award, which is dedicated to breaking the epidemic of youth violence. "It showed how two people, who could have been enemies because one of their grandsons killed the other's son and they forgave each other and became best friends" says Timyra.

Timyra has many talents that make her special, but are not well known. One most are not aware of is she speaks fluent German. Another, she is passionate about helping endangered, abandoned and abused animals. As a matter of fact, Timyra's biggest personal goal in life is to be "The Voice" for such animals.
